BEST ALL ROUNDER CHOICE

Jabra Elite 65t £169.99

Jabra isn’t an audiophile brand, BEST BUY but I’ve become addicted to these headphones for their combination of usability, fit, great build, long battery life and better-thanexpected sound quality. Take one out and the music pauses, there are sensible on-ear controls and they connect quickly.

Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri and Google Assistant voice control are all supported, so you can simply ask to change songs, while four built-in microphones help to combat wind noise when making hands-free calls. There’s also a clever Hearthrough mode which feeds ambient noise into your ears at the touch of a button, helping you to stay aware – instead of plugged in – in busy environments.

Listening to Richard Skelton’s ethereal Complete Landings, I’m impressed by how much depth and atmosphere the earbuds draw out of the recording. While top and bottom frequencies get a bit much at volume, you can adjust it using the Jabra Sound+ app (ios/android) – the excellent noise isolation means you don’t have to listen loud to hear the detail, even on the train.
