Robin Holloway (b1943)

A prolific composer and writer, Robin Holloway was a chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral and went on to study at King’s College, Cambridge. He returned to Cambridge in the 1970s, when he began a 32-year role as a professor of compositio­n. Notable students who studied with him include Thomas Adès, Judith Weir, Jonathan Dove and Huw Watkins. Robin’s works have been performed in concert halls the world over, including at the BBC Proms. His multifacet­ed style has been applied to several concertos, a symphony, choral and instrument­al works and two operas.
