Singapore Symphony Orchestra
British Journeys, the Voice of a City, Nature and the Universe: three themes in the Singapore Symphony’s 2019/20 season
This season, the Singapore Symphony continues its exploration of British Journeys in music, as part of the bicentennial of its modern founding. The music of composers such as Haydn, Bruch and Elgar are all linked to Britain. Nations and great centres of culture are the seeds for great music, inspiring composers visiting Vienna, Leipzig or London. Even in Singapore, the journey continues, with new Singaporean compositions alongside rediscoveries such as the 1915 Raffles March. Even grander is the inspiration from nature and the universe, which give rise to our presentations of The
Planets, Star Wars and the film and music experience, Moonrise & Aurora.
