France Musique
Radio 3 joins forces with France’s public radio station this month for a set of takeover shows. France Musique’s Clément Rochefort and Radio 3’s Katie Derham host programmes together live from London and Paris, both featuring a selection of British and French musicians.
In Tune: 11 Oct; Générations France Musique: 12 Oct Miss Julie at the Barbican
William Alwyn’s Miss Julie has a close relationship with Radio 3, having received its premiere on the station in 1977. It returns this month for the first time since its initial broadcast. Miss Julie is a tragic tale of class division and unrequited love, written by a superb yet neglected British composer.

Mark-anthony Turnage’s Refugee
Tenor Allan Clayton takes to the stage in the UK premiere of Mark-anthony Turnage’s Refugee,a song cycle set to poems by Benjamin Zephaniah and WH Auden among others. This exciting new work is joined by Tippett’s reimagining of an English dance tune and Britten’s evocative final song cycle.
