Inspiring Bach
To your useful list of composers whose music Bach transcribed for keyboard (It’s Good to be Bach) should be added the unjustly neglected Johann Adam Reincken, two of whose sonatas for two violins, viola da gamba and basso continuo, together with a further fugal sonata movement – all taken from his Hortus Musicus (1687) – the young Bach found sufficiently instructive to arrange for solo harpsichord.
