BBC Music Magazine

Root notes, swede music and a touch of glass

-

Any time is a good time to make music. And for eating. So when a blue tin emblazoned Musical Experiments for A er Dinner arrives in the BBC Music Mag post, we are cock-a-hoop. Inside are 21 cards, each suggesting a way of using food and dining implements to make music – a whistle made out of a carrot; an ad hoc glass harmonica; a wine bottle xylophone. To test it out, the editor has brought in his wine collection and finest crystal and headed out for some root veg. Birt-whistle and Glass are, of course, at the top of our playlist.
