CRITIC’S CHOICE

A concert by the Irish Baroque Orchestra was the last event that I attended before the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, so the ensemble’s new recording a year later evokes happy memories. It is themed around the highly colourful figure of Tenducci, a castrato singer active in Dublin in the 1760s. Music relating to his life by Maldere, Arne, Giordani and various others is sparklingly performed, with the superb Irish mezzosoprano Tara Erraught a scintillating bonus.
