I’ve loved being able to tune into the musical extravaganza that is the Bali Arts Festival. Indonesian gamelan is one of the most vibrant musical cultures on the planet; it’s a spellbinding type of percussion ensemble that’s inspired everyone from

Debussy to Britten to Björk. This annual festival showcases a wealth of traditional and contemporary Indonesian music

(plus some terrific costumes). Normally you’d need a plane ticket to get there, but this year’s festival is live-streamed on Youtube so it’s been a joy to watch from my sofa.
