As I was driving my dog to her favourite walking area in the countryside, I happened to turn on the car radio and catch the opening bars of a new release of Kodály’s Duo for Violin and Cello from violinist Barnabás Kelemen and cellist Nicolas Altstaedt (see review, p84). The sheer electricity of the playing blew me away, so much so that the dog had to wait patiently in the car for the movement to end before I was prepared to release her!
