That winning feeling
Turnage’s title tunes
One composer particularly well known for his love of football is Mark-anthony Turnage – his opera The Silver Tassie, premiered in 2000, is all about the game. On 5 November this year at the Barbican, Turnage will be remembering one of his beloved Arsenal’s most dramatic moments – the 1989 league title-winning victory against Liverpool – when his new work Up
For Grabs is premiered by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, guitarist John Parricelli and drummer Peter Erskine. Named after a moment from Brian Moore’s commentary of the match, the work will be preceded by a conversation with fullback Lee Dixon and other members of the 1988-89 Arsenal team.
