King’s College Chapel
King’s College Chapel (above) is Cambridge’s most iconic building. Begun in 1446 following King
Henry VI’S foundation of the college, this architectural masterpiece is home to the world-famous choir, which has sung daily services in its splendid acoustics since its very beginning. In addition to the regular cycle of sung services, the chapel today hosts many of Cambridge’s largest orchestral and choral concerts plus the Easter at King’s Festival. It is, of course, also the setting for A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from King’s, broadcast annually around the globe by the BBC since 1931.
