An Orkney Tapestry Orcadian composer Erland Cooper and violinist Daniel Pioro pay tribute to Stromness poet George Mackay Brown, who would have turned 100 this year. Their lyrical portrait will be paired with archive interviews and field recordings. Between the Ears: 10 October, 6.45pm

Arnold: The Tortured Composer

Southbank Centre Residency

Radio 3 returns to the Southbank for a weekend of live music. The LPO is joined by its new principal conductor Edward Gardner and cellist Nicolas Altstaedt in Lutos awski’s Cello Concerto, while the experiment­al Manchester Collective kicks off its year-long residency with a meditative programme. 30 September – 3 October
