The IMS Prussia Cove chamber concerts in West Cornwall this autumn included a stunning performance of the String Sextet in A major by Rimsky-korsakov. This appears to be a neglected work, originally written for a competition and not published until after the composer’s death, and recordings are almost non-existent. It deserves better than this, a musically diverse and satisfying work that should be in the mainstream of the chamber music repertoire.
