Three to look out for…

-

Elisabeth Brauss Pianist

Born: Hanover, Germany Career highlight: Being in the BBC Radio 3

New Generation Artists scheme has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my musical life. It has offered me great opportunities and practical support.

Musical hero: Conductor Carlos Kleiber is one of my greatest inspirations. Just by watching his performances, I feel I am becoming a better musician.

Dream concert: The greatest moments on stage often happen when you least expect them. That said, it would be a dream to play Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos together with pianist Igor Levit under the baton of Teodor Currentzis.

Benjamin Kruithof Cellist

Born: Moestroff, Luxembourg

Career highlight: Producing my debut album, Russian Mood, helped me grow as a musician because of the difficult programme I chose. Also, winning the Cello Biennale competition in Amsterdam in 2020, which gave me my debut with the Netherlands Philharmonic in the Concertgebouw. Musical hero: Pianist Glenn Gould was dedicated to finding his own individual sound. It’s so easy to lose our individual ideas and instead mimic the recordings we enjoy. Dream concert: I would love to play chamber music in a fantastic hall surrounded by friends and family. Cevanne Horrockshopayian Composer

Born: Suffolk, UK

Career highlight: Performing my compositions at the 2019 BBC Proms with the

Sonic Bonnet, a DIY midicontroller I wear as an ornate headdress of metal and LED lights. Using this wearable tech, I can manipulate my live vocals.

Musical hero: Laurie Anderson, who describes herself as a multimedia artist. Her works, whether for the Kronos Quartet or NASA, offer insight, heart and humour. Dream concert: I dreamt of an orchestra playing, shimmering blue and green in the darkness, like the earth from space. I awoke and immediately forgot the sound, but with every piece I write, I try and recapture it.
