Philip Glass’s Akhnaten Following its smash-hit 2019 run (a DVD of which is nominated for this year’s BBC Music Magazine Opera Award), the Metropolit­an Opera is to revive Phelim Mcdermott’s production. Anthony Roth Costanzo plays the revolution­ary pharaoh, under the baton of Karen Kamensek. Opera on 3: 28 May, 6.30pm

Raga and Tala with Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar guides us through Indian classical music from its roots in Hindu tradition, introducin­g the traditions of northern Hindustani music, with its emphasis on improvisat­ion, and its more composed southern Carnatic counterpar­t. Sunday Series: 8, 15 and 22 May, 11pm

Music of Inner Peace and Outer Turmoil Daniel Kidane’s new work Be Still, a ref lection on the spring of 2020 during lockdown, will be performed with Medtner’s Piano Concerto No. 3, written while the composer sought refuge in rural Warwickshi­re following the Blitz, and Nielsen’s violent Symphony No. 4, composed at the start of World War I.
