CRITIC’S CHOICE

-

Michael Tanner Pianist Piotr Anderszewski was a rather recent discovery for me, but since I first heard him in recital in Cambridge I have been listening to all his not-numerousenough discs, of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and a fewother composers. His most recent release, a selection of Bach’s Second Book of Preludes and Fugues, selected by him as ‘character pieces’, deserves and repays endless listening, but so do his other recordings. He seems to me to be the Sviatoslav Richter of our generation – a great artist who gives far too few concerts.
