Ege continues her groundbreaking work in introducing hitherto unheard works by Black composers with a new album. Homage – Chamber Music from the African Continent and Diaspora is performed by Boston’s Castle of Our Skins string quartet and set for release in November on the Lorelt label.
Peter Jarušek and Veronika Jarůšková of the Pavel Haas Quartet will head to Wyastone Concert Hall in December and May to record Dvořák’s complete Piano Trios. They will be joined by pianist Boris Giltburg for the recording, which will be released by Supraphon in September 2023.
Jonas Kaufmann and Ludovic Tézier have been brought together for a collection of opera duets. The tenor and baritone recorded Insieme during the lockdowns in 2021 with conductor Antonio Pappano and the Academy of Santa Cecilia Orchestra, and it features debut performances by both artists of duets from Verdi’s Sicilian Vespers and Ponchielli’s La Gioconda. Sony Classical releases the album on 7 October.
Pappano also presided over Alexandre Tharaud’s Cinema. The French pianist has recorded a selection of classic and lesserknown pieces written for the screen, in arrangements for piano and orchestra – some made available for the first time. Pappano conducted Tharaud and Santa Cecilia musicians at Paris’s La Seine Musicale, Boulogne-billancourt for the album, which will be released in October on Erato.
