The BBC Proms
As eight wonderful weeks of the Proms 2022 enter their final phase, there’s still plenty to whet the appetite throughout September. Here’s what you can catch on TV throughout the final fortnight:
Prom 58: Public Service Broadcasting
After the success of their 2019 Prom, the cult ‘retro-futurist’ rockers are back with their signature showmanship to perform their newly commissioned album-length performance This New Noise – an archive celebration of 100 years of BBC Radio.
BBC Four: 2 September, time TBC
Prom 61: Chineke!
The UK’S first majority Black and ethnically diverse orchestra is accompanied by an array of world-class soloists and the newly formed Chineke! Voices as they bring to life Beethoven’s mighty Ninth Symphony, preceded by George Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Lilacs.

Prom 67: Nicola Benedetti
Thomas Søndergård conducts the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in a dazzling jazz-infused programme including Wynton Marsalis’s specially commissioned Violin Concerto, and Bernstein’s suite from West Side Story.

Last Night of the Proms
Soprano Lise Davidsen and cellist Sheku Kannehmason are set to raise the roof of the Royal Albert Hall in this year’s grand finale, joining the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Dalia Stasevska in a programme including the traditional favourites, some operatic showstoppers and a special centenary commission from James B Wilson.
