Violinist Nemanja Radulović shares a selection of his most treasured recordings

Sibelius Violin Concerto

Yuval Yaron (violin); Bavarian

Radio Symphony Orchestra/klaus Tennstedt Profil Medien PH05004

This concerto is known, but not so much this recording. We all know so many different, beautiful versions, but this one I really appreciate. Yaron takes so many risks with the expression, and the way he plays with the right hand is very personal. There is this palette of different colours; he takes some tempos faster than usual and there’s an engagement which is really beautiful. It’s a live recording, so you really feel you are in the concert hall.

Oriol Cruixent Now

Oriol Cruixent (piano) et al Sole Recordings

I met this composer a few years ago, and I started to listen to his music and found this album on Spotify. He writes in all kinds of different styles – it’s classical, but he also uses a lot of traditional music. His last album is more meditative – it was made during the pandemic – so it is interesting. You can listen to it in many different circumstances – outside walking or listening at home – and you hear all kinds of details. He deserves to be heard and I hope he will have a wonderful career.

Estirpe

Pacho Flores (trumpet) et al DG 480 6785

I think Pacho is the most beautiful trumpet player of our time. When he plays there is such a palette of colour and of life. This is his most recent recording, and there is a concerto by Arturo Márquez together with a work by him and it’s just so beautiful and so lyrical. You don’t imagine trumpet playing that way; it’s really like singing from the first note until the end.

Nemanja Radulovic´’s album ‘Roots’ is out on 7 Oct on Warner Classics
