Conducting an orchestra? It’s a piece of cake…
We presume that just as this issue goes to press, Jürgen Krauss will be grabbing his flour and eggs from his store cupboard and setting the oven to gas mark 5. Krauss, a talented trombone player who reached the semi-final of last year’s Great British Bake Off on TV, has been commissioned to make a 90th birthday cake to be presented to the
London Philharmonic Orchestra at its concert in Brighton at the end of October. Presumably, in her role as the LPO’S principal guest conductor, Karina Canellakis will be beneficiary of the first piece. We do hope, however, that some might be left over for, say, hungry BBC Music Magazine editorial staff members. Fingers crossed.
