Even be­ing on hold for hours on the phone is not enough to break a man’s love for his eight-year-old niece in the first TV ad for Voda­fone cre­ated by Ogilvy & Mather. The un­cle prom­ises lit­tle Amy con­cert tick­ets for her favourite pop star, Nathan Sykes, but the tick­ets don’t go on sale un­til the fol­low­ing morn­ing. He rises at 6am and stays on the phone queue all day, through er­rands and his com­mute, with­out drop­ping the call – thanks to Voda­fone’s net­work. The spot was cre­ated by James Manning and Richard Bar­rett, and di­rected by Pa­trick Duroux through Knuck­le­head.
