What’s going on, and a few good news stories this month.
THOSE WITH AN occasional penchant for tweed and carefully sculpted facial hair need to start checking their wardrobes – the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) is moving to May.
Since being launched in 2012, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has run on the last Sunday of September.
Northern Hemisphere riders have headed out into the autumnal rain and wind in unsuitable clothing to raise funds and awareness of prostate cancer and men’s mental health.
Last year’s DGR was a solo affair, with riders taking themselves to the road individually and raising a lot of cash for the Movember campaign, highlighting men’s health issues.
This year the organisers are eager to get back on the road for The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, and from 2021 it will permanently move to May, with the next ride being held on Sunday, May 23.
This is a significant change, decided on due to feedback from riders and volunteer hosts from around the world, based on the impact that the weather has had on the safety of the events in recent years.
