How’s everyone doing? While the pace of life has slowed down for many, changes and developments are quicker than ever. Luckily, there’s one thing that’s holding steadfast: gloriously long summer days are shining bright on the horizon. And we’re on hand, too, with a bumper crop of seasonal recipes to bring a splash of colour into your homes.

As advised, we’re staying local – James Martin (p44) shares inspiration from his pre-lockdown jaunt around the British Isles with dishes to enjoy at home, while our guide to cooking crab brings with it all the flavours of the coast (p52). From fired-up Southeast Asian barbecues (p70) to contemporary ways with vegetables over flame (p58), grilling season never looked so tempting – just add one of our homemade condiments (p68) on the side. For something a little more refined, turn your attention to yuzu (p48), and bring a zesty hit to mealtimes.

If, like us, you’ve been using this time to get stuck in to planning ahead, don’t miss our ultimate family adventures (p94), arranged in a handy guide, by season, to help inspire your next trip. Discover the team’s travel hit list (p74), and immerse yourself in gourmet travels around Devon (p22) and the delightful Swiss Riviera (p30). At time of print, the places mentioned are not currently open, but it is hoped that they will be when we’re ready to travel again. For more great recipes and a hearty dose of escapism, subscribe today and get every issue delivered straight to your door (p110). Blossom Green Acting Editor
