Supporters fund Bo’ness repairs

-

THE Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway received a major boost when the line was handed back by contractors following repairs to five major landslides.

On the evening of August 11 last year and early the following morning, much of Scotland was battered by thunderstorms, causing landslips along a mile-long stretch of the railway. Trains were unable to run beyond Nether Kinneil, and the railway was cut off both from Bo’ness and its main line connection at Manuel.

Repairs were made possible by supporters who donated almost £130,000 to fund the work. A spokesman said: “We cannot express our thanks enough to everyone who donated and sent wonderful messages of support.”
