Lavender DEMU under repair at Cranmore

THE East Somerset Railway’s Cranmore Train Maintenance business is currently working on a ‘Thumper’ DEMU set.

Class 205 cars Nos. S60117/1118, which are based at the Lavender Line, have arrived for attention to the bodywork.

Most of the lower side panelling and the rotten ribs behind are being replaced, together with the end. The roof has also been stripped back to bare metal.

A rust hole was discovered, which it is believed was largely to blame for the condition of the side. The roof has also been receiving attention.
