Underground movement is a winner in London collectables’ online sale
TWO Underground platform enamel roundels shared top billing in the railwayana section of a London paintings and collectables live online sale held by Essex auction house Sworders on December 15.
They were from Oxford Circus, a busy hub on the Central, Victoria and Bakerloo lines, and the Piccadilly Line station of Knightsbridge, each of which sold for £2000. Oxford Circus station is Grade II-listed, and in 2019 handled 78 million passengers, making it the fourth busiest station on the London Underground network.
A third roundel, from the Jubilee Line station of Swiss Cottage, went for £650. Prices exclude buyer’s premium of 25% (+ VAT).
