Clean sweep for Bassett-Lowke in Vectis model sale

-

BASSETT LOWKE scooped the top three places in a Vectis model train and railway books sale on January 15, with the charge being led by an O-gauge three-rail electric LMS No. 6100 Royal Scot that went for £950, followed at £750 by another O-gauge model, GWR No. 4093 Dunster Castle.

No. 6232 Duchess of Montrose, another in O-gauge, completed the Bassett-Lowke clean sweep with a realisation of £700. This LMS locomotive was a favourite with model train enthusiasts for many decades and a regular part of youngsters’ model layouts in the 1950s due to Hornby’s OO-gauge version of the Pacific as BR No. 46232.

Behind this trio came three Lawrence Scale Models OO-gauge GWR sidecorridor third class coaches that featured detailed interiors including figures and the GWR monogram on the sides, which sold as a single lot for £620. Prices in this live online, telephone, commission and postal sale exclude buyer’s premium of 25% (inc VAT).
