Bluebell unveils its 2021 commemorative model wagon

-

THE Bluebell Railway has launched its 2021 commemorative model wagon.

Produced by Dapol, the OO-scale model is based on the manufacturer’s standard four-plank open wagon.

Carrying the branding ‘Harvey’s The Sussex Brewers’, the wagon is the fifth in the current series of limited edition models. Reflecting the fact that the line’s diamond jubilee celebrations were delayed in 2020 due to Covid-19 – it is hoped the event will be able to take place this year on August 6-8 – the model also includes the legend ‘60+1’.

The branding is a reminder that at one time, the Lewes-based independent brewer, which dates back to 1790, did not use an apostrophe in its name.

While the model is supplied with a coal load as standard, it has been suggested that it looks the part carrying barrels. With that in mind, Bachmann barrels are available from the railway shop at £7.50 for a pack of 10 – although two packs are required as the wagon can accommodate 18 barrels. The model wagon costs £22 plus £1 postage, available from www.bluebell-railway.com/ shop or by telephoning 01825 720803.
