Hagley Hall boiler passes test alongside fellow Hall

-

ON September 15, despite Bridgnorth yard being full of locomotives preparing for the Severn Valley Railway's autumn steam gala the following day, the boiler of flagship GWR 4-6-0 No. 4930 Hagley Hall underwent a steam test on a flat wagon and was brought up to its working pressure of 225 psi.

The boiler passed its test and the railway is waiting to fix a date for the final hydraulic examination with British Engineering Services, its independent boiler surveyor, which effectively provides insurance validation.

Providing all goes well, the 10-year boiler clock will be reset and once completed, the boiler can then be placed back into the frames, thereby passing a huge milestone.
