Reveal your inner artist as Severn Valley offers drawing and photo courses

THE Severn Valley Railway has launched a series of new workshops, designed to inspire the‘inner artist’of its visitors.

Throughout this year, the SVR will be collaborat­ing with local experts to offer drawing and photograph­y sessions.

Bewdley-based Foundry Artists will be hosting sketching sessions at The Engine House visitor centre at Highley with sessions starting on May 14.

Ticket holders will experience a carefully-curated workshop to gain key sketching skills, and the workshops are suitable for all experience levels.

As part of their workshop package, each participan­t in the course will get a Freedom of the Line day ticket to use across the railway before and after their session.

Lee Chapman, from Chappers Photograph­y, will be hosting two full-day workshops for all experience levels, with the first covering basics on May 15. A more advanced course on June 19 will teach key skills on landscape and location. Participan­ts will travel to Arley to photograph the station along with its staff and surroundin­g environmen­t.

Hilary Baker from Foundry Artists said: “Basing this series of workshops at the SVR gives us a new opportunit­y to work within a varied and attractive setting. The SVR promises a truly unique selection of stand-alone sessions in a landscape that has inspired generation­s of artists.”
