-

A COLLECTION of 35 cabs from locomotives and multiple units is being relocated to the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway’s headquarters at Cynheidre.

The Cab Yard collection is owned by Richard Benyon and is currently based at a private site in Bridgend.

Visitors to the railway’s successful seasonstarting mixed traction gala on March 26 were for the first time able to see part of Richard’s London Transport collection along with his Tamper Cab and crew quarters, now the volunteers’Tamper Tea Room mess room.

The event featured all operational traction, including Sentinel Rolls Royce 0-4-0DM No. 10222, English Electric Class 600 0-6-0 No. NS690, Class 142 ‘Pacer’ No. 142 006, and Class 143 ‘Pacer’ No. 143 607. Morning operations focused on top-and-tailed brake van rides, while the ‘Pacers’ provided afternoon services.

The London Transport Traction Group’s former Isle of Wight Class 483 tube train No. 483 006, currently being cosmetically restored to its original London Transport condition, was open for visitors to inspect.
