Market Deeping model show back after three years

-

THE Market Deeping Model Railway Club in Lincolnshire, which attracted support from enthusiast and rock star Rod Stewart after its 2019 exhibition at a school in Stamford was badly vandalised, is to hold its first show for three years.

After the exhibition that year was wrecked in the early hours by four drunken 16-year-olds, as reported in issue 256, a relaunch event was planned for early 2020 but was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Hailed as the club’s biggest exhibition yet, this year’s ‘comeback’ event, Stamford 2022, will be held at the same venue, Stamford Welland Academy, in Green Lane, PE9 1HE, over the weekend of May 14/15.

Club chairman Peter Davies has presented the show’s sponsor TC Harrison Ford, Stamford’s longeststanding motor dealer, with a scale model of its showroom made by skilled model maker David Hildred.

The four teenagers later pleaded guilty to criminal damage when they appeared before Lincoln Youth Court.
