Premier all set to visit Wales for Welshpool’s annual gala
THE Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway will be welcoming Kerr Stuart Brazil 0-4-0ST No. 886 Premier for the line’s September 2-4 gala weekend.
The gala is an annual celebration of all things transport, with an intense timetable operating, vintage cars and buses, traction engines, and more planned to be on show. It is expected that a flypast will take place on September 3, with the precise aircraft details to be confirmed nearer the time.
In the display sheds at Welshpool Raven Square station will be a wide range of model railway layouts, spanning a variety of scales, eras, and prototypes.
Alongside the service trains, Premier will also operate a series of short shuttle services from Llanfair Caereinion, which will be available to travel on for an additional supplement to the gala day rover fares.
Having undergone a £120,000 overhaul, this will be Premier’s first visit away from its home of Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway home since returning to steam in May this year.
