Steam Dreams adds No. 34046 Braunton to its roster ahead of tour in memory of driver and inspector

- By Tim Hobman

STEAM Dreams has recently announced the addition of Bullied light Pacific No. 34046 Braunton to its locomotive roster.

The rebuilt West Country 4-6-2 is rostered for the ‘White Cliffs Tour’ on August 11, from Canterbury.

That tour will now be renamed ‘The Colin Kerswill Memorial Tour’ as a way of honouring Colin Kerswill, who passed away on April 13 at the age of 86.

Colin was a long-serving steam driver and traction inspector who drove the first ever ‘Cathedrals Express’ tour to Canterbury in June 2000.

He was much respected throughout the steam movement, and it is anticipated that many passengers on board the train will want to reminisce with stories of Colin. Steam Dreams will also be hosting Colin’s family on the tour as its guests.

It will be the first time in some years that No. 34046 will be hauling a train around the Kent coast, following the route which Colin loved to work around Dover and the White Cliffs.
