Be Aware Of The Risks

It’s worth mentioning that testosterone replacement therapy is not entirely without risk. If you experience any symptoms, speak to your GP

-

LOW SPERM COUNT

Your natural production of T will be reduced, which can impair sperm production and fertility. While most men return to their pre-T baseline when they stop taking it, speak to an endocrinologist if you plan to have kids.

MOOD CHANGES

Coming off testosterone can be rough, so it’s not a decision to be taken into lightly. Possible side effects can also include depression, restlessness, irritability, aggression and fatigue, too.

WEIGHT GAIN

Gynaecomastia – aka ‘man boobs’ – is another potential side effect. An enzyme in fatty tissue converts testosterone to oestrogen, which can trigger their growth. Juice too much and excess T winds up as oestrogen.

HEART ISSUES

Testosterone replacement therapy can cause thickening of the blood, making it more prone to clotting. Regular blood tests during treatment will ensure you’re not at risk of heart troubles or stroke.
