Woody hell, Fulham!

- By TREVOR WILLIAMS

FULHAM players were left red-faced when a FAN beat them in a game of crossbar challenge.

The Craven Cottage club raised a few extra quid by charging supporters to attend an open training session.

But Martin Jol’s squad were upstaged in a competition to win a signed shirt by a fan who showed he was better at shooting than they were.

The players all missed, with Bryan Ruiz the closest, but the fan hit the bar.

One Fulham player who does know what it feels like to thwack woodwork is Alex Kacaniklic. The 20-year-old winger made his first-team debut by coming on as a sub in Saturday’s 2-1 win against Norwich City.

The Swede, who had been recalled from a loan spell at Watford, saw Canaries keeper John Ruddy tip a great curling strike onto the bar.

“It was a good save. I enjoyed the game but of course it would have been even better if I’d scored,” said Kacaniklic.

“But I’m happy to have made my debut and I’m happy that we won – that’s the important thing.”
