SHROPSHIRE FAVOURITES
FIDGET PIE
This shortcrust-pastry pie has a hearty filling of local apples, potatoes and bacon or gammon. The recipe is thought to be hundreds of years old.
SHROPSHIRE RED
Produced by a number of local dairies, Shropshire red is a hard cows’ milk cheese. It’s like a cross between red leicester and cheddar, with a strong flavour and moist, chewy texture.
SHROPSHIRE MINT CAKE
Similar to an eccles cake — a buttery, short-crust pastry filled with currants — but with the addition of freshly chopped mint. It’s best served hot out of the oven.
