Efficient diesel

Despite a concentration on alternative power sources, diesel engines are not dead.

Cummins showed off its QSK60, a 60.2-litre V16 developing 2,310-2,700hp, as used by Stadler. It meets the emissions regulations for UIC II, EU SV SIIIA/EPA Tier 3, and EU SV and EPA Tier 4 with SCR After-treatment.

With high pressure injection, the QSK60 offers lower fuel consumption and emissions, reduced lifecycle costs, and greater durability than older engines.
