GBR team signs up to EDI Charter
The Rail Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Charter, led jointly by the Railway Industry Association and Women in Rail, has celebrated its 200th signatory.
The milestone was announced at the RIA Annual Conference, after the Great British Railways Transition Team put pen to paper on November 9.
Launched in November 2020, the voluntary initiative has attracted organisations of all sizes and disciplines - including government bodies, Tier 1 suppliers, and small- to mediumsized enterprises (SMEs).
It aims to promote an inclusive culture within railway organisations, and ultimately to build a more balanced and higher-performing sector which attracts and develops the widest possible pipeline of talent and skills.
Signatories are committed to endorsing the charter, appointing a member of the senior leadership team as an ‘EDI Champion’, agreeing an action plan and monitoring progress, providing training and educational opportunities to employees, and making recruitment and progression processes accessible and attractive to all.
