TfL poppy tributes
Specially designed poppy roundels were in place at 20 Underground, Overground and bus stations across the Transport for London (TfL) network, to mark this year’s Remembrance period.
TfL has worked with the Royal British Legion to support the Poppy Appeal for ten years. This year, for the first time, poppy vinyls featured on all Underground, Overground, DLR and tram vehicles, plus Elizabeth line trains.
Actor, singer and presenter Shane Richie recorded a special station announcement that was played across many Underground and rail services to mark the launch of London Poppy Day (November 3), to encourage people to donate to the appeal.
All London stations observed the two minutes silence at 1100 on November 11, and members of the London Transport Old Comrades Association participated in the National Service of Remembrance and RBL’s annual march past the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.
