Embankment at Morpeth stabilised

-

Engineers have completed a £13.2 million project to stabilise an embankment near Morpeth on the East Coast Main Line.

A temporary speed restriction has been in place since February 2021, after ground movements caused a landslip, weakening the embankment.

Between May and October 2022, some 4,000 metres of steel and more than 4,000 tonnes of concrete have been installed as part of the piling process, enabling normal line speeds to resume.
