NR upgrades over festive period
Network Rail will embark on £120 million worth of upgrades during the festive period.
As most of the engineering is planned to take place when the network is shut on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and overnight, it says that 95% of routes will remain open as usual.
Of around 300 projects, the most disruptive work will include bridge reconstruction and track maintenance around London Liverpool Street, overhead line equipment renewal at Grays (Essex), resignalling at Clapham Junction and Balham, resignalling at Birmingham New Street, and track renewals near Lewisham.
Services on the West Coast Main Line will also run to a reduced timetable, while track renewals at Harlesden, platform work at Milton Keynes Central and bridge work at Camden and Wolverton all take place.
