School use for EX-LNER Mk.3s
PORTERBROOK HAS donated two former LNER Mk.3 trailers to a school in Waltham Abbey, Essex, for conversion into a library and activities centre.
Most recently used by East Midlands Railway, TF 41165 and TS 42109 were transferred from Long Marston to Upshire Primary Foundation School on October 18, where they were subsequently installed on track panels. The first-class vehicle will be modified into the library over the next six months, but will retain some of its seating with the TS to be used by the school’s clubs as well as the local community.
Meanwhile, TF 41207 has been sold and is now located in the garden of a private residence near Stannington level crossing, in Morpeth.
