Great Central RKB returns following refurbishment
ONE OF just four Mk.1 RKBS still in existence, 1526 was returned to the Great Central Railway in mid-october following an extensive restoration by Rampart Engineering at Barrow Hill. Away for just under two years, the work has included extensive bodywork and end repairs, a bogie overhaul, and full internal redesign and refit of the kitchen. November saw it undergoing repainting into Pullman colours at Rothley.
Also at the line, Mk.1 CCT 94286 has been undergoing considerable bodywork repairs prior to a full repaint, as it is to be used to carry a generator to power the external lights on the railway’s festive services.
