The King’s Own Scottish Borderer approaches Burnmouth on May 28, 1978.

-

A short family holiday in May 1978 staying near Bamburgh enabled me to do some photography around Berwick and on the coastal section just north of Berwick. 55010 The King’s Own Scottish Borderer is nearing Burnmouth with the Sunday 10.00 London King’s Cross to Edinburgh on May 28, 1978, which was a very warm, sunny day.

Although the gorse was in full bloom and there was a variety of lineside flowers, the visibility was not as good as I would have liked, enabling Bamburgh Castle to be seen in the far distance. As can be seen, in 1978 this section of line ran very close to the cliff tops, which resulted in it being relocated several yards inland a few years later.
