Ballymoss makes a smoky departure from Bradford Interchange on April 24, 1979.
In the years after their introduction, Deltics only made occasional visits to Bradford, but from the 1970s they were regularly to be seen at Bradford Interchange on King’s Cross trains.
For several years I worked out of an office in Bradford, which was only a stone’s throw from the interchange; if I was not out doing survey work, I could often see both the lunchtime and early evening King’s Cross expresses, which were Deltichauled from time to time.
On April 24, 1979, 55018 Ballymoss was again photographed, this time making the traditional smoky departure from Bradford Interchange, despite working on only one engine, heading the 17.30 to London King’s Cross.
