Permaquip Personnel Carriers are donated to The Rail Trolley Trust

-

Trolley Trust has been given two Permaquip Mark II Personnel Carriers, with both vehicles moving to a new home on the Tanat Valley Railway in early March.

DX68805 and DX68806 were previously based at the Aln Valley Railway, where they had been based since 2007.

However, a change in circumstances saw their previous owner looking for a new home for them. Agreement was reached for ownership of the vehicles to be transferred to the trust and move them to the TVR, where a number of the trust’s vehicles are to be displayed at Nant Mawr Visitor Centre.

The immediate priority will be to make both vehicles watertight. Once that is complete, a full survey will be carried out on both machines and then a plan put together, with a view to returning them to operational condition and completing a full cosmetic restoration.

Chair of the RHTT, Jonathan Flood, expressed his gratitude to the previous owner of the Permaquip vehicles and to Mark Hignett and his team at the TVR for their assistance in the project, and also for organising and funding the transport of the newly-acquired vehicles to Nant Mawr.
