Visiting locomotives are announced for Swanage and Severn Valley events

-

diesel events that are taking place during May have announced which locomotives will be visiting to join their home fleets. The Swanage Railway is holding its annual Diesel Gala and Beer Festival on May 6-8.

Joining resident Class 33s D6515 (newly overhauled and repainted) and 33111, will be South Devon Diesel Traction’s Class 25 D7612, Harry Needle Railroad Company 37703 (which the owner has previously stated is to be stripped for spares), the Peak Locomotive Company’s Class 44 D4 Great Gable, and Class 46 D182, alongside Nemesis Rail’s 31128 Charybdis.

Two weeks later, on May 19-22, attention will turn to the Severn Valley Railway, with the Peak Locomotive Company’s D4 and D182 also attending this event alongside a visit from the Deltic Preservation Society’s main line-registered Class 55 D9009 Alycidon (fresh from extensive repairs by its owners), joining the SVR’S large home fleet of heritage diesel locomotives for their Spring Diesel Festival.

It is expected that both railways will announce further visiting locomotives to the event rosters in the lead-up, although these had not yet been revealed as this issue of Railways Illustrated closed for press.
