47812 and 47843 Vulcan pass through Whitley Bridge on January 30, 2015.

As a follower of the Class 47s, when I found out that 47812 and 47843 Vulcan were working on hire to GB Railfreight I decided to take a road trip to Whitley Bridge, near Eggborough, which is about an hour’s drive away from my home.

Whitley Bridge is a nice little place to photograph trains and the weather conditions on this particular day were perfect, with the sun shining and a good view of trains heading from the Doncaster direction. The two Class 47s were on hire to GBRF, working 4D93 from Doncaster to Drax on January 30, 2015.

Class 47s are undoubtedly my favourite type of locomotive and I have actively followed the fleet since I first became interested in railways as a child. It was great to see them working a freight service again and it was definitely worth going out to see them.
