Liverbird Double Day Marathon

The field for this modest turn-of-theyear event is predictably boutiquesized but the 100 or so runners who turn up are always a hardy, jovial (and, perhaps, slightly unhinged, we politely venture) bunch. Both days are the same; run four out-and-back laps of a 3.27-mile route along the Liverpool Otterspool Riverside Promenade. There are grand views out over the Mersey and once you’re done you’ll have the smug knowledge that it’s only January 1 and you’ve already done one more marathon than almost everyone else in 2019.
